Celebrating Every "Dad" With Local Experiences!

Skip the Gift and Make the Memory!

By Fort Mill Macaroni Kid June 14, 2021

Real Talk: most of us parents need for nothing. And every holiday - from Father's Day to the winter holidays to birthdays, there's very little that we can give that someone needs. One thing I know my dad always cherished was time spent doing something, making memories, together. My father-in-law was the same way. He really hated gifts - and my husband always says "don't buy me things." So, for the past few years, we've started giving experiences.

Here are some of our top picks around town (and the QC) for Father's Day to make him feel like the "King" he is!

INDOOR FUN

X-Golf South Charlotte (1177 Stone Crest Blvd.,Tega Cay, SC 29708) is celebrating its GRAND OPENING on June 26th, so why not get a jump on things and grab Dad (or yourself) a gift card for when it opens? It looks amazing!

Stroke Putt (1318 Pecan Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205) is offering a fun Dad Pack you'll want to check out! It's open to all ages before 7:30 PM and reservations are strongly encouraged.

Pins Mechanical (307 W Tremont Ave, Charlotte, NC 28203) is a fun spot to let loose and have a great time with dad or any special person you're celebrating on Father's Day! From bowling to video games, ice-pops and great food - check out!

Slingshot Social Game Club is your one-stop destination for skeeball, duckpin and pop-a-shot. Located at 332 W Bland St, Charlotte, NC 28203, this is sure to be a fun family outing!

Top Golf (8024 Savoy Corporate Dr, Charlotte, NC 28273) is one of our favorites and the perfect combination of outdoor and indoor fun! The food is delicious and we love being able to share Dad's love for Golf (and my boys) with my inability to spend a whole day playing!

Hometown Escapes (1657 Katy Lane Fort Mill, SC 29708) is great for older kiddos (7+) and their favorite "dad" or "dad-like" adult! We've gone for date nights and had a great time, but these are totally age-appropriate for you to do as a whole family!

Striker's Family Sportscenter (124 Anderson Rd N, Rock Hill, SC 29730) is a guarantee STRIKE for father's day - and I mean the good kind!

Adventure Air Sports Park (2375 Cherry Rd, Rock Hill, SC) has so much to do and our family loved jumping and playing together. If you wanted to really make it special, you could rent it out privately before opening time on Father's Day and gather all the special "dads" you know for a little Own the Park adventure. We did that earlier this year and I would HIGHLY recommend it!

OUTDOOR FUN
Mr. Putty's Fun Park (2333 Dam Road, Tega Cay SC 29708) has never disappointed. From ax-throwing to min-golf, ropes courses and ice cream, the adventure never stops!

Ebeneezer Park has recently been renovated and is READY for you to have all the water fun possible. Bring some food and hang out all day - fish on the pier, boat, play volleyball or hang on the beach.

Chimney Rock is one of our favorite outdoor activities. We love hanging out in town after the satisfaction of a solid climb (or elevator ride!). You'll definitely be glad you made the trek - and its totally an adventure you can either create for a day or for the whole weekend! Looking for a weekend itinerary - check here!

Fishing, paddle boating or hitting the beach at Cane Creek has been on our list of must-do activities for this summer and there's no better time to do that than Father's Day!

US National Whitewater Center is a blast for the whole family and a great way to spend time outside and enjoying the best in rafting, climbing, ziplining and adventure. Whether you are just heading out to walk the dog on the trails or to try some rafting, this is a must-do on our list of "dad" friendly spots!

Southtown Wake Park in Rock Hill (255 E. Rambo Road) is the coolest thing we only learned about this year! The wake course is designed for kids as young as 4 and as old as 100 to try out wakeboarding in a safe and controlled area. There's also a really amazing aqua park (must be 7+ and 48") to splash and play after you've tried your luck with the wakeboarding!
