Description

This Community Impact Film Series event is focused on Mental Health. This will be the third time we dive into this important topic through engaging and meaningful discussions with local experts.

This free event includes:  

  • 11 – 11:30 am Poetry Performed By Luther Kissam Poet and Author of of Have I Told You About My Superpower & Live Music (TBA)  
  • 11:30 am – 12:30 pm Screening of Religion, Philosophy & Mental Health in Black American (2024)
  • 12:30 – 1:1 5 pm Panel discussion with filmmaker Alexus Rhone, John Goodwin – Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Dr. Josh Scott – Pastor of Unique Church, Rev. Dr. de’Angelo Dia – IPH’s Director of Education & Community Engagement. The discussion is moderated by John Burton, Jr.
  • 1:15 – 2 pm A Resource Fair connecting attendees with organizations such as NAMI Charlotte MHA of Central Carolinas Village Heartbeat/Bridge to Better Mental Health Finding Inspiration Foundation & more.

The Independent Picture House is a community arthouse cinema that operates 365 days a year and is dedicated to screening independent, foreign, and arthouse films. It is brought to you by The Charlotte Film Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 1982 that creates communal experiences through cinema to inspire and celebrate what connects us as humans.
