The Quack is Back! Join KinderMourn’s flock of supporters at the 19th Annual Hope Floats Duck Race on Sunday, April 30. The event will take place from 2:00-5:30 p.m. at the Whitewater Center located at 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway in Charlotte.

“We look forward to bringing our community together for a festival of hope and healing where ‘Hope Floats’ and loved ones are honored and memorialized,” said Katy Ryan, executive director of KinderMourn. “Each year, hundreds of parents in our community are impacted by the death of a child, and thousands of children learn all too young the devastation of having a loved one die. Our annual Duck Race is a meaningful way for the community to provide support to continue to heal heartaches and provide hope.”

Every adopted rubber duck allows KinderMourn to continue its mission of providing a sanctuary and a safe haven to bereaved parents and grieving children and teens who have suffered an unthinkable loss. The third largest duck race in the country, KinderMourn’s one-of-a-kind Duck Race brings together people of all ages to watch tens of thousands of brave rubber ducks rush through the Whitewater Center rapids. Over the past 19 years, the race has raised more than $2.5 million.

There is no charge to attend or create a team for the Duck Race, but there is a $6 Whitewater Center parking fee per car. People can adopt one lucky duck or an entire raft, start a team or join an existing team. Duck packages range from $30 to $500, depending on the size of the flock. The free event will feature entertainment for the entire family, splashing of the ducks, and cash prizes for the top three ducks.
