The Non-Edible Easter Basket - What to Include?

By Fort Mill Macaroni Kid March 6, 2023

Easter is early this year and we know you are all beginning to get those baskets ready for your kids of all ages. While typically the baskets are filled with goodies like chocolates, candies and sugary treats - which are always crowd-pleasers - remember that they're not the only items that can make an Easter basket special.

If you are looking to change things up this year and steer clear of the sugar-rush, check out these 8 ideas below:

  1. Stuffed Animals: A cute and cuddly stuffed animal is a great addition to any Easter basket. Whether it's a classic Easter bunny, a chick, or a lamb, a stuffed animal can add a touch of whimsy and comfort to the basket. I've been seeing LOADS of Easter Squishmallows - which are my kiddos' favorites!
  2. Books: Books are a great way to encourage reading and learning in kids, and they can also provide a quiet activity for adults. For children, choose age-appropriate books with colorful illustrations and fun stories. For adults, consider a new novel, a coffee table book, or a self-help book.
  3. Art Supplies: Encourage creativity and imagination by including art supplies in the Easter basket. You can include items like markers, crayons, paints, coloring books, sketch pads, or other craft materials. Maybe include a gift certificate to one of the awesome art places in our area like Chelsea and Savannah, Creatif Fort Mill and Small Hands Big Art Kingsly.
  4. Toys: Toys are always a fun addition to an Easter basket. For younger kids, consider including a small toy like a puzzle, a ball, or a toy car. For older kids, consider including a board game, a puzzle, or a remote-controlled car.
  5. Outdoor Activities: Spring is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Consider including outdoor activities like bubbles, jump ropes, frisbees, or sidewalk chalk in the Easter basket.
  6. Bath and Beauty Items: For adults, consider including bath and beauty items in the Easter basket. You can include items like bath bombs, body lotion, face masks, or scented candles.
  7. Accessories: Add a touch of fashion to the Easter basket with accessories like sunglasses, jewelry, hats, or scarves. For kids, consider including hair accessories like clips or headbands.
  8. Games and Puzzles: Encourage brain activity and problem-solving by including games and puzzles in the Easter basket. For children, consider including a puzzle or a memory game. For adults, consider including a crossword or sudoku book.
