5 Simple Ways to Create a Flawless Date Night Look

Easy steps to take your beauty routine to the next level for Valentine’s Day

It’s been a long season, especially for us in the Carolinas. The key to getting through this next six weeks of winter (according to Punxsutawney Phil) is to plan fun nights out. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get dressed up and get out of the house. Here are five simple ways to get you out on the town like the fierce mom you are!

1. Accessorize!

Hair accessories are such an easy way to level up when going out. Whether you go bold or simple, pinning one side of your hair up with curls, adding a decorative bobby pin to straightened hair, or even adding an accessory to a low bun looks classy and fabulous. If hair accessories aren’t your thing, top off your look with a cute winter hat. Here are a few of my favorite accessory and hat styles.

2. Don’t be scared to go bolder and heavier!

Date night means it’s time to ditch the daytime makeup routine. For evenings out, I like to go heavier on the face, cheeks, and eyes because a soft makeup application can get lost in low lighting. Don’t be timid, go bolder with your eyeliner, apply a full foundation and top it off with a powder. Be sure to use powder or a setting spray if you will be wearing a mask so that your makeup doesn’t rub off.

3. Accentuate either eyes or lips.

Going bolder doesn’t mean you want to look overdone. If you choose to go with a deep lip color, keep the eyes simple. If you choose to go smokey with the eye, I recommend a nude lip color or gloss. Again, if you are wearing a mask, you will want to consider a long-wearing lip color so it doesn’t rub off easily.

4. Simplify a smokey eye.

Valentine’s date nights are a great time to go outside your comfort zone to create that bold look that you may not do every day. Shadows can be really tough to master when creating a smokey eye. Opt for gel eyeliners that don’t fall out on your skin. Apply the eyeliner and smudge it out on the lower and upper eyelids just after you apply it. Then use natural color in your crease. You will never find an easier method to create a date night look!

5. Don’t Forget Bronzer!

Bronzer can work wonders for our look and our mood, especially this time of year when we are dreaming of white sand beaches. When choosing a bronzer, select one that makes your skin look sun-kissed. Stay away from bronzers that make you look orange. Swipe the bronzer from the forehead to the cheek to just under the chin in the shape of a #3. Don’t forget to bronze the neck and décolletage area, just be careful to avoid your clothes.

Cheers to your date night look!
