Best Spots for Fall Photos Around Fort Mill & Rock Hill

By Fort Mill Macaroni Kid October 24, 2021

Not everyone has the budget or the time for professional family photos. Personally, I know there are seasons we just can't fit them in, but we still want to take advantage of the gorgeous foliage and make sure we have photos to use for holiday cards.

MacKID rounded up our suggestion of stunning photo spots for you and your family in and around Rock Hill and Fort Mill. Grab your camera, or your iPhone, and get snappin'.

Anne Springs Close Greenway
2573 Lake Haigler Dr, Fort Mill
Why I love it: What's not to love? There are literally hundreds of options from the barn to the fields to the water. This is a gem of a spot!

Downtown Fort Mill
Main Street, Red Caboose and Veterans Park, Fort Mill
Why I love it: There are so many great old buildings to add a little bit of zest to your family photos. The boys always take great pics at the caboose and you can still get the foliage.

Ebeneezer Park
4490 Boatshore Rd, Rock Hill
Why I love it: The water in the background, along with the changing trees, is all that you need!

Fountain Park
300 E. Main St., Rock Hill
Why I love it: Nothing says fun like a fountain! The sculptures add just a little flair and you still get some of our awesome town in the background!

Glencairn Garden
725 Crest St, Rock Hill
Why I love it: With so many options, you can create any mood you want. Chose from bridges, water, trees and wide-open space.

Hall Family Farm
445 W Rebound Rd, Lancaster
Why I love it: If you haven't been to the new location, you are missing out. Now settled on literal hundreds of acres, the new Hall Family Farm also boasts a small lake and a beautiful bamboo trail. And, even when the farm is closed to the public, you can always reach out for a private session!

McDowell Nature Preserve
15222 York Rd, Charlotte
Why I love it: This is one of our favorite spots in Charlotte - but JUST over the state line. While we aren't campers, you could easily make an overnight or a weekend of it, camp and then take photos.

Riverwalk Park
1307 Riverwalk Parkway, Rock Hill
Why I love it: You can turn any adventure into a photoshoot. We found a rock and then a bench and stopped our family's walk for the most beautiful photos this winter. We grabbed some candy and bribed the kids, but you could easily do this while on a bike ride. There's an open-air amphitheater and a playground to make for cool pics also.

The Mural at the Mercantile
153 E. White St, Rock Hill
Why I love it: OMG, this mural has given me life! Recently completed (as in mid-October) our friends at The Mercantile have brought some intrigue into our little city and what a cool background for family pics. If you are an art lover, this is your spot!

The Ivy Place
8603 Van Wyck Rd, Lancaster
Why I love it: Who wouldn't want this in the background of a family photo? It add such character and its only ONE of the many spots you can photograph when you visit The Ivy Place.

Winthrop Lake
290 University Lake Dr, Rock Hill
Why I love it: This little stunner is a hidden gem for photos. Head out to campus and check out the Winthrop Lake, make a picnic or just take a walk and shoot photos as you go.
