My Former Life as a Yoga Teacher

By Rachael Weiss ~ Publisher June 21, 2021

Wanna hear a secret? Well, it's not REALLY a secret but before I was a MacKid publisher, I was a Yoga Teacher. In fact, not only did I teach yoga, but I taught right here in Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Rock Hill!

So, when I realized that today - Monday, June 21st, is International Day of Yoga, I knew I needed to share some of one of my passions with you.

I know, I know... you already know so much about yoga. You've either tried it and hated it OR you practice regularly. That's what I've discovered in the 15+ years I've been practicing. I've also realized that I didn't know much about it at all when I started.

Yoga is more than just physical practice. Yoga is a state of being. A Mindset. And, even if moving your body through Asanas (poses) doesn't really do much for you - you can still practice. Sure, the Yoga we know here in the US is mostly considered poses, like Warrior 1 and Eagle; but did you know that the very act of mindful breath is also yoga? That can be done while running around OR sitting still in meditation.

Thanks to the sponsor of this issue, Om Yoga in Baxter Village, we are able to bring you some great content about different yoga techniques, styles and venues around town. If you haven't checked them out, you should - I simply adore Maria and her team (also not a secret: I used to teach there!) and know you will, too!

NamaSTE Awesome,

Rachael
