Hal, a precocious and friendly owl, is always wearing a beanie and no one can figure out why! His beanie captures everyone's attention and everyone asks him why he wears it. But his reason may not be what you think! He wears his beanie for his friends - as a way to show how much he loves them.
Local author Erinn Nichols has been working on this adorable book for 7 years and finally was able to finish this sweet children's book during this pandemic. "During the pandemic, we all obviously had a little more downtime and I thought it was time to try to add something positive to this year." she told me. "Plus the message is wonderful for kids."
Hal came to life for Erinn as a child. She was inspired by a necklace that Erinn's Grannie used to wear, and she has always been drawn to an owl and "I like to think it's her with me." She went on to tell me about Hal's other friends who are eager to also share their stories. "Now that I've gotten this first book published, I am already working on the adventures Hal's friends are taking and I can't wait to get them out!"
Available in paperback and hardcover on Amazon, Hal the Owl is perfect for toddlers and elementary-aged children. It is a perfect read-aloud picture book and as an early reader for beginners, filled with colorful illustrations to bring out the giggle in children of all ages. The book includes 2 interactive activities and a Bible verse at the end pertaining to neighborliness and kindness.
