Four Easy Fixes for Your Thanksgiving Problems

By Chef Rob & Franki Clement ~ Piedmont's Bounty November 16, 2020

We reached out to our local food expert Rob Clement from Piedmont's Bounty and asked him for his advice on some weird scenarios that you might find yourself in during this very unique Thanksgiving! Here are his best tips for solving all the worst problems you mat find

What if I'm only feeding a family of four instead of your usual 15?

Turkey is “Traditional” but who says in a year that is full of surprises, you can't go rogue? Try purchasing some local beef chicken or pork from one of our local farms Like Evans Family Farm, Farm at Flat Creek or Sharon Hill Farm. After all nothing says thankfulness like a cool November night on the grill.

What if you aren't looking forward to big crowds at the supermarket?

Check out Freshlist for all your Thanksgiving needs. This one stop shop for locally sourced food offers every kind of produce available in our region as well as proteins, eggs dairy, Thanksgiving desserts and even those cute little pumpkins that make for a perfect Thanksgiving centerpiece. Online ordering is super simple and you can pick up at several different Charlotte locations!

What if the only family you have coming is the one family member you wish stayed home?

We all have one in the family. This year, feel free to indulge in some local beers from breweries like Free Range Brewing or to buy a liquor kit from craft cocktail bar Dot Dot Dot.

What if I forgot to defrost your turkey in time?

No secret chef tip here. Just make sure you don't use a previously frozen turkey in a fryer. If you somehow forgot to thaw your bird several local chefs & restaurants are offering family style meals that might help you forget this pivotal mistake. Some of the best options we've noticed are from Leah & Louise, Chef Alyssa's Kitchen, Fine & Fettle or Your Farms, Your Table.
